The Vision
Matterworks is using the power of AI to fundamentally change the impact of biological measurements and observations. Our team is building technology that harnesses machine learning for the interpretation of and prediction on disparate datasets. We are leading the development of foundational technologies that support scientific advancement by bridging the gap between data collection and the ability to change outcomes.
Our Values
In pursuit of these ambitious goals, we rely on our core company values to guide our work:
Communication & Trust
We value open communication — giving direct, honest, and constructive feedback when asked and expecting the same from others. We are trustworthy and dependable. We work hard and expect everyone else to do the same. Our success hinges on everyone’s ability to deliver quality work in a timely manner.
Scientific Excellence
We approach every problem with scientific rigor, skepticism, and integrity. We take into account the expertise of our colleagues, differing viewpoints, and challenge assumptions to ensure we are producing work of the highest possible quality.
Culture & Diversity
We respect the religious beliefs, political leanings, sexual and gender identities, and cultural values of our colleagues. We appreciate the unique experience of each member of our team, and believe this diversity of perspective is the root of creative, innovative, and truly transformative work.
People
We are a passionate team of scientists, engineers, and ‘many-hats’ professionals committed to building better tools to interrogate biology and accelerate the rate of scientific progress. We depend on collaboration across functional areas, with our analytical sciences, software, artificial intelligence and data science, marketing, and business teams working in lockstep to deliver exceptional science, innovative technology, and quality products with the potential for far-reaching impact.

Analytical Sciences
Our team of mass spectrometry specialists, analytical chemists, and research associates who design, test, and optimize experimental workflows. Their laboratory activities produce and curate the data that trains our machine learning models and enable us to deploy our technology on customer sites.
AI & Data Science
Machine learning is the driving force and connector at the heart of Matterworks’ platform. Our engineers and researchers design, deploy, and train cuttingedge ML models that turn users’ raw data into humaninterpretable insights.

Software Engineering
Our software engineers similarly work to develop powerful internal data processing tools and are responsible for developing an intuitive customer-facing platform to enable users to make informed, real-time decisions in the lab.
Commercial & Marketing
Marketing pros, life science technology experts, and application scientists come together to assess markets in which we might apply our technology and champion Matterworks’ mission and vision to external audiences.

Operations
A team of ‘many-hats’ professionals that provide support across the organization with the people, processes, and tools necessary to accomplish individual and collective goals; whether through finance, legal, human resources, recruiting, or lab operations.
Culture
At Matterworks, we believe that a culture of camaraderie best supports the interdisciplinary collaboration required to develop our novel platform, which unleashes the power of machine learning on analytical chemistry methods, tools, and data to accelerate the discovery, development, and manufacture of biologics and gene therapies.
To foster such a culture, Matterworks sponsors regular team events and activities, including all-hands lunches, happy hours, offsite outings, and birthday & milestone celebrations.

We're excited to share new data with our collaborators at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines on how Pyxis, our AI-powered platform used for absolute quantification of metabolites, enhances cell culture media and CHO cell metabolism profiling, ultimately streamlining bioprocessing optimization.
📌 Poster Highlights:
✅ Reduces analysis time of raw LC-MS data to 15 minutes without compromising results (compared to conventional approaches that take 6-8 weeks to deliver)
✅ Achieves excellent sensitivity, with LOQs as low as 5–200 nM
✅ Simplifies annotation—no need for any data manipulation, go from raw data to annotation and absolute quant in a single step, requiring no isotope-labeled standards
✅ Machine Learning facilitates new discoveries in cellular health and productivity
🚨 Visit us at the #CHIBioprocessingSummit to explore how Pyxis is accelerating insights across cell line development and bioprocessing optimization.
📍 Poster Session B, Number: B33
📅 Presentation: Wednesday, August 20th
Presenter: Adi Kulkarni, Ph.D.
